Horowhenua District Council's animal control team is changing how it provides its services during the evenings and weekends. We are looking for a new team member who is confident, energetic and a great communicator with a commitment and passion in animal control, welfare and enforcement. We are looking for another permanent team member to join our crew.

This role is 40 hours per week and will participate in a rotating roster between the hours of 7am to 7pm weekdays and 8am to 5pm on weekends. 

He kōrero mōu - About you 

As an Animal Control Officer you will play a crucial role in safeguarding the welfare of animals and promoting responsible pet ownership within your community.  You will have a passion for animal compliance, animal welfare and must be confident in the handling of aggressive dogs and moving of stock. You need to be a real people person and have great communication and relationship management skills to ensure that you are able to effectively liaise and educate animal owners where needed around how they are able to meet compliance obligations.  You will be curious by nature as a high level of investigation is required. Reporting and record keeping of all events is essential and a good working knowledge of Microrsoft is key to the success of this role.
